If your home is going on the California FAIR Plan, photos are often part of the process. Photos of the home and its surroundings help with underwriting and inspections, and missing or unclear photos are one of the most common reasons a FAIR Plan policy gets held up. This short video walks through the photo process.
Tips for getting your photos right
- Take them in daylight so the roof, siding and yard are clearly visible.
- Show each side of the home, plus the roof and any outbuildings, decks or detached structures.
- Show your defensible space. Clear brush, trim trees and clean gutters before you shoot. Mitigation work you can see in photos helps your file.
- Ask us first if you are not sure what is needed. We will tell you exactly which photos your application calls for.

We look at your home the way underwriters do: carrier guidelines, ISO verification, mitigation discounts, and the photos carriers and the FAIR Plan require, so you know exactly where you stand before you shop or renew.
